Add a little spice to your feet by outfitting them in shoes with tie straps, instead of the standard slip-on or zip-up. Shoes are an everyday accessory; therefore, they should not only be comfortable but stylish as well. Shoes that tie up your leg come in a variety of different styles and heel sizes. Try on the shoes prior to purchasing to ensure a proper fit and comfort level.

Lace-Up Heels

Heels have a certain quality that not only make women feel beautiful, but they also exude confidence, because the heel makes a woman stand up straighter. High heels that lace up come in various heel heights that range from 1-inch to 4-inch stilettos. Lacing options vary from fabric straps that tie up to the knee using a criss-cross motion, to laces that tie up the front of the shoe and around the ankle only. Those that tie up the leg are typically worn in warmer months with miniskirts or shorts. The straps, which vary in fabric such as canvas, cotton or suede, can be patterned with designs, bold in colour or standard black or nude. Heels with an ankle-only tie can be worn with virtually anything, from shorts and dresses to trousers, suits or jeans.

Wedges scream summer outfits and vacation time at the beach. If a vacation is not in your future, give the illusion that you just stepped off an island by incorporating a wedge tie-up shoe into your outfit. The wedge is helpful to those who may be uncomfortable in a heel, because the wedge helps to stabilise the ankle and foot due to the added material in the sole of the shoe. Purchase a pair of tie-up wedges for your next swimsuit or summer outfit.

Gladiator Sandals

Gladiator sandals traditionally have flat bottoms with a lace-up pattern that starts near the toe of the sandal, and works up towards the ankle; however, shoe designers are constantly changing the look of gladiators and incorporating heels into the traditional style. Pair either style of gladiator shoe, a flat or a heel, with clothing that will show off the foot and the lace-up pattern of the shoe. Ideas for outfits include shorts, long and short skirts and capri pants.

Draw attention to slim ankles and calf's with flats that tie up the leg. These shoes, which come in ballet flats, espadrilles, peep-toes and closed toes, can offer all-day comfort. The laces on the flats, which vary in fabric depending on which style of shoe you chose, can lace to the ankle only or they can reach to your knee. Keep the look casual for a flat lace-up shoe, and pair them with a swimsuit by the pool, skirts, shorts or dresses.
