Many college students who are studying for exams and athletes preparing for a big game drink an energy drink to improve concentration and give their body an extra boast of energy. Perfect for all lifestyles, the main ingredient in energy drinks is caffeine. Numerous brands of energy drinks exist on the market, but some are more popular than others.

Red Bull

With the slogan "Red Bull Gives You Wings," Red Bull energy drinks are used by professionals, athletes and students to increase reaction speed, concentration, performance and alertness. Red Bull also stimulates a person's metabolism. Ingredients in Red Bull include B-group vitamins that help the process of metabolism by breaking down carbohydrates and fat. Red Bull also contains caffeine, which improves mental functions and helps burn fat during physical activities. One Red Bull and one cup of coffee contain the same amount of caffeine. Taurine, an essential amino acid, and Glucuronolactone, a carbohydrate, are also used in Red Bull, which are kosher and gluten, wheat, vegan and dairy free. Rockstar energy drinks are sold in convenience and grocery stores throughout the world and are available in 14 flavours, including Juiced Mango, Tropical Punched, Roasted Lattee and Energy Cola. The Rockstar website claims Rockstar energy drinks are scientifically formulated with potent herbal ingredients, such as ginseng and guarana, to create energy boosts for people with any lifestyle. All Rockstar energy drinks are sold in 454gr. cans. Zero sugar and zero carb energy shots containing 200 milligrams of caffeine are also available.

Full Throttle

Produced by the Coca-Cola Company, Full Throttle energy drinks are sold in 454gr. cans and are available in five flavours: Blue Agave, Coffee Mocha, Citrus, Coffee Caramel and Red Berry. All flavours of Full Throttle claim to contain a "no choke mixture," which has a tasty flavour so you do not have to hurry and force down the drink. Each can contains 200 milligrams of caffeine and d-ribose, both of which produce energy in the body. Full Throttle also has 200 milligrams of niacin, a B vitamin that converts carbohydrates into glucose, producing energy.
