The Bose 901 has been manufactured since 1968, and it was developed into Series I & II, then Series III & IV and finally Series V & VI. Bose released them this way to be compatible to each other in pairs. For example, Series V Bose 901 speakers will work fine with the Series VI equalisers or vice versa. This is sometimes what people overlook, resulting in them not achieving the desired sound output.

The Package

Make sure you got the whole package. It comes with two Bose 901 speakers, the Bose 901 Active Equalizer, four audio cables and a manual.

Speaker Setup

The speakers have been designed with an angled rear. Consider the distance of the speakers to the walls. It is advised to set it up no closer than six inches or farther than 24 inches from your walls. These conditions ensure that the sound can reverberate freely from your speakers to the walls, giving a better sound effect in your room.

Checking Connections

Using the audio cables in the package, you need to make sure you follow the technical instructions to the letter. Proper connection will ensure your Bose 901 equaliser will work perfectly. If you have a receiver, check if it has a tape monitor loop as well as RCA connections with "Tape In" and another for "Tape Out." Connect the "R" and "L" correctly in the receiver and equaliser. Make sure you have one cable in the "Amplifier Input" jacks connected to the "Tape Out" connections of your receiver. Use another cable to connect "Amplifier Output" to the "Tape In." Plug in your Bose 901 Equalizer.
