Create your very own Wonderland when decorating for a Mad Hatter party. Table centrepieces can be teapots, as many as you can find that look funky. Line them up on the table. Old fashioned clocks and stuffed mice complete the table decorations. For the walls, giant playing cards, chess pieces, paper flamingos and rabbits would look great. The Mad Hatter likes to dance so put on some music than can emulate his dance moves, or pop in an Alice in Wonderland movie.
It goes without saying that the Mad Hatter adores teatime. Serve guests flavoured teas in real cups and saucers (juice or lemonade for smaller guests). Bake cupcakes and write the words "Eat Me" on them with squeezable icing. Make sugar cookies in the shape of clubs, roses, hearts and spades. Offer small tea sandwiches as well as the sweets. Scones and jelly go great with tea. Lay out a variety of different teas and sweeteners for guests and offer lemon slices too.
The Queen of Hearts loves to play flamingo croquet. Buy lawn flamingos to use for mallets and set up croquet in your backyard. Have lots of bubble-blowing supplies on hand so kids can blow bubbles like the character in the film blows his hookah. Lay out a lot of hats so the guests can pretend they are trying on Mad Hatter's wares, and have a dance contest to see who can do the best frabjous dance. Have a race with teacups. Divide kids into teams and have them race against each other holding a teacup full of water. Whichever team races without spilling the "tea" will win.
