Fast-paced and aerobically demanding, badminton demands high levels of fitness and accuracy from its players. Top level players hit the shuttle at speeds of up to 150mph! Badminton can be a good way to keep fit and make friends, and you only need a racket, shorts and T-shirt, and comfortable track shoes (without black soles) to play. A number of clubs are located in central London. Along with most other London-based clubs, those in the city centre play in leagues organised by the Middlesex County Badminton Association.

Victoria Badminton Club

The Victoria Badminton Club is based at the Queen Mother Sports Center, less than five minutes walk from Victoria Railway Station in central London. The club expects new members to be of upper-intermediate to advanced standards, which generally means that they have been playing the game for at least five years and are familiar with playing doubles. Although the Victoria club plays competitive games, it also places an emphasis on exercise and on having fun. Club nights take place on a Friday evening.
