BMW motorcycle mechanics perform diagnostic testing, and complete general routine maintenance and repairs on BMW bikes. To perform your own BMW motorcycle repair and maintenance, you should have extensive knowledge of BMW motorcycle parts, including brakes, engines, ignitions and transmissions.

Qualified BMW repair technicians and mechanics are available in nearly every state in the U.S. If you're unsure where to turn for BMW repairs, contact your BMW dealer for recommendations.

Check oil level and quality of oil in your engine every time you ride. Also, use a cloth along oil lines to check for leaks, and then check the ground under the bike for puddles or pools. If you're unsure which oil to use, check your BMW motorcycle owner's manual or contact a dealer. BMW actually sells brand oil for your bike through it's dealers.

Typical BMW motorcycle mechanics have finished courses in motorcycle mechanics or motorcycle technology at a trade school or college. Certified BMW mechanics also complete BMW motorcycle training specific to the brand. Typical BMW motorcycle mechanic curricula include a study of brake systems, and two- and four-stroke engines, according to Education-Portal.
