The Welsh Assembly Government offers a variety of grants to help individuals and organisations with various needs. For instance, a mandatory grant is provided to help those with disabilities get adaptations to their home. Another grant gives funding to prevent arson in the country. Another, still in the works, is meant to improve Housing for Gypsies in Wales. There are also grants to help social housing in Wales.

Disabiled Facilities Grants

The Disabled Facilities Grants provide funding for those who have a handicap. The grant supports alterations to the home to accommodate the disability. These grants are the only mandatory grants from local authorities.

Arson Small Grants Program

The Arson Small Grants Program is meant to prevent arson in Wales. The grants fund projects with this aim. At least 150 projects have been funded as of 2010. Small local projects are funded by the grant which can total 4536 Kilogram. The grants are given on a competitive bidding basis. Applications which address children, youth and education, and public protection, among other issues will be considered for the grant.

Social Housing Management Grant

The Social Housing Management Grants are meant to provide funding for activities which help to institute good management practices and policies and start innovative management initiatives. The grants are given to also support programs which give education and training to those in housing management, among other things. The main purpose of the grants is to improve social housing management and conditions in Wales.
