Music and tattoos go well together as both are forms of creative expression. There are many genres of music from which to choose: jazz, rock or hip-hop, among them. The sky's the limit for tattoo ideas as well. You can get a stylish music tattoo to show off your favourite band, make a personal statement or flaunt your talent as a guitarist.

Band Logo

Many rock stars, including Slash and Tommy Lee, have tattoos. If you want to show your devotion to a particular band and emulate one of your heroes, try a band logo tattoo. Band logos are often created to give a "cool" image to a band and can do so for your tattoo as well. For example, if you really like The Rolling Stones, get a tattoo of the band's famous tongue logo. If the band you like doesn't have any particular logo, make up your own logo design.

Song Lyric

Make a statement with a lyric from a favourite song. While fitting all the lyrics would be out of the question in most cases, you can get a line or two from a song. For example, if your favourite song is Bob Dylan's "Like a Rolling Stone," you could get a tattoo featuring the line "When you got nothing, you got nothing to lose," from the song's verse.

In the same way a tattoo artist needs a tattoo gun to perform his job correctly, musicians require various instruments to create music. Design a tattoo featuring a musical instrument that has special meaning to you. Be creative with the colours of the instruments, there's no need to stick to the expected colours, use your imagination. Musical notes in a variety of colours would also work.
