Social clubs are a good way for women in your neighbourhood to socialise and join forces to improve the neighbourhood. When deciding on the mission of your social club, consider the needs of the other women in your community as well as yourself. For example, if there is a lack of resources for single mothers and you're a single mother, you could start a club which offers a social outlet for single mothers and their children to get relief from a tough work week through activities and meetings in the home.
You could use the social club as a way to mentor at-risk girls in your neighbourhood. Take the girls to local career fairs, the movies, restaurants, college open houses and art exhibits at local museums. Also use the club meetings as way to teach the girls life lessons about healthy relationships, career choices, personal hygiene, money management and household skills.
Women with AIDS
If you have AIDS and you want to reach out to others in your situation, it's a good idea to start a social club that focuses on AIDS outreach for women. You and fellow club members could visit middle schools, high schools and colleges to host seminars on AIDS prevention and share your personal stories on life with AIDS. This would inspire young women in your community to make wise decisions regarding relationships.
If you're a foodie and you know some neighbours who enjoy good meals, you could start a food club in your neighbourhood. The meetings could be held two or three times a month and during these meetings, the members would bring a favourite dish while you could supply the drinks. Also during the meetings you could discuss the newest restaurants that opened up and give your critiques of them.
