Perhaps most famous for its yearly Christmas drive, the Salvation Army also offers assistance to needy people year round. The Salvation Army helps those with nowhere else to turn and assists with paying heating bills, electricity, water and other utility bills. The Salvation Army also has programs that offer food and shelter assistance, as well as adult day-care service centres for working families who are caring for elderly family members. The Access Project
Founded in 1998, The Access Project (TAP) is a non-profit organisation that helps people pay mounting medical bills. According to its website, The Access Project's goal is to improve health care, strengthen community action, and help promote social change for those who are struggling and in need of assistance. The Access Project's Medical Debt Resolution Program offers financial help to those who are in need of help with paying for medical bills and related debt. The Access Project also provides advocates who work with insurers, medical providers, and public assistance programs to help reduce and resolve debt caused by medical needs.
