When you have a new baby, you want to capture every moment of her life by recording all the developmental milestones and gathering mementos to remember special times. In order for your child to remember the days leading up to her birth and the first year of her life, create a baby memory book, complete with photos and captions, highlighting each of your baby's first milestones.

Before the Birth

Create a scrapbook page, showing your ultrasound photos, particularly the one that shows the gender of the baby if you know it. Decorate the page with stickers or decals that announce, "It's a boy!" Or even question marks if you haven't found out the gender. Create another scrapbook page, highlighting the progress of decorating the nursery. Take a before picture of the room, and then use pictures to show how it changes. Show different pictures of you painting the room and adding furniture and accessories. Another scrapbook page can document your baby shower and include photos of friends and the multi-generations of the family.

Baby Pictures at the Birth

Make a scrapbook page dedicated to the birth of your baby. Place your baby's hospital photo in the middle of the mounting paper, and prepare a label describing your baby's vitals, including her name, time of birth, weight and height. Decorate the page with a teddy bear decal or floral stickers. Remember to put your baby's hospital bracelet in the baby scrapbook, as well. Create supplement pages with grandparents or aunts and uncles holding her so that you will have multiple photos of your baby with family members. Include notes on the meaning of your baby's name and if there was any significant reason you chose that name.

Baby's First Milestones

Throughout your baby's first year, take pictures of every first milestone from his first smile to his first bath to his first Christmas. Create scrapbook pages for each milestone like his first bath in the sink. Affix a photo of your baby splashing in the kitchen sink to mounting paper, and decorate the page with rubber ducky decals and transparent bubble stickers. Write down the date of his first bath on a self-adhesive label, and attach it to the page. To highlight his first Christmas, take pictures of your baby with Santa Claus (if he's willing) or by your Christmas tree, and attach that photo to some red scrapbook paper. Write Baby's First Christmas in a gold gel pen, and affix Christmas-themed decals like Christmas stockings or presents along the side.
