Employee Farewell Gifts
Farewell gifts are a way to say "Good luck!" (key handshake image by Andrey Kiselev from Fotolia.com)

Employee farewell gifts can be difficult to decide on, but very necessary. Goodbye gifts are a great way to tell a person how much they meant to the company, to you as a co-worker and to the job itself. Find a farewell gift that is useful and will mean something to the employee who is leaving. It will help them look back on the job fondly.

Engraved Clock

A clock always comes in handy, whether it's a desk clock, a clock for the mantel or an alarm clock for the nightstand. An engraved clock is both useful and sentimental. A nice gold or silver clock can be purchased for the departing employee, with an engraved message wishing him the best of luck in his future endeavours.

Scrapbook

A scrapbook is an ideal farewell gift if there was a close relationship between the co-worker and the other members of the department, or if she worked there long-term. A scrapbook can be assembled with photos from employee picnics and parties, and pictures of her in the office or at other events. Copies of awards certificates she received during her time in the role can be added to pages, along with invitations to work-related events she hosted, tickets to functions you attended as coworkers and other sentimental items. An additional page with notes from all the coworkers can be added at the end, along with special messages from any clients she may have worked with.

Gift Basket

A gift basket of your co-worker's favourite items can be assembled to show your appreciation for his time spent at the company. If he's a wine drinker, small bottles of wine, cheeses, crackers, a wine opener and a book about wine can be included. If he's a golfer, golf balls, golf towels, head covers, golf tees, and other golf accessories will be appreciated.

Office Caricature

An office caricature is a one-of-a-kind farewell gift to help her remember her coworkers, and it will also make an interesting piece of art for her home or new office. A caricature can be drawn based on a picture of all of her closest employees. The picture can be drawn in black and white or colour, and then framed in a nice frame. Caricature artists can be found locally in the phone book, or online at sites such as eCaricature.com.
