Updated April 17, 2017

Loose, sagging skin is one of the most obvious signs of age. While there are many surgeries, creams and chemicals that tighten skin, there are also many ways to naturally tighten and firm your skin. Natural, healthy processes and products can be used to invigorate your skin, making it look and act younger.

Facial exercises

Facial exercises help tone the muscles beneath the surface of your skin. They also keep your blood moving in order to flush toxins out of your body so you skin is firm, tight and glowing. Getting into a routine of doing facial exercises every morning for five to 10 minutes will naturally tighten and firm your skin and reduce the appearance of sagging, aging skin. These exercises work your forehead, eyes and crow's feet, sagging jowls or double chin, neck and mouth.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant that fights free radicals and prevents environmental damage, improving the appearance of wrinkles and tightening and firming your skin. Additionally, vitamin C stimulates the production of collagen, which reduces lines and wrinkles. In order for vitamin C to be affective, it must be a high concentration of L-ascorbic acid. According to Moor Plastic Surgery, a 20 percent concentration of vitamin C with a low pH delivers the highest amount of vitamin C to the skin.

Sea kelp

Algae is a nutrient-rich life form of nature. Found in the ocean, algae is available in many cosmetics because of its high concentration of minerals that draw toxins from the skin. Additionally, algae hydrate and mineralise the skin and contain vitamins that penetrate the skin. Many of the herbal properties in marine products are used for tightening and firming the skin. Algae draws out impurities and will temporarily tighten the skin. The amino acids contained in sea herbs act as a moisturiser and conditioner for the skin, invigorating and rejuvenating it.

Drink more water

The body is made up of approximately 60 percent water, according to trainer Jillian Michaels in "Making the Cut". When we retain extra water it is stored around your cells, making your feel bloated or fat. One way to naturally flush retained water from your body is to drink extra water. It may sound like an oxymoron, but the less water you drink, the more water your body will retain.

Diuretic herbs and foods flush toxins from your body to tone and tighten your skin. These include dandelion tea, green tea, cranberry juice, asparagus, watermelon and peppermint. Try drinking an extra cup of herbal tea with diuretics in it to avoid bloated skin.
