If you're looking for a new way to apply your make-up, you may want to trade in a high-maintenance make-up regime for the more subtle, sophisticated look that Korean women often have. Korean women have their own set of beauty regimes, including skin care and make-up tricks, most of which are based on producing clean, clear skin and subtly defining facial features with neutral make-up.

Daily Makeup Application

According to the K-popped website, Korean women often apply several types of make-up even on a typical day when they're simply running errands. To follow suit, start with primer and base to even out your skin tone. Then apply foundation, concealer and setting powder. Apply eyebrow pencil, eyeshadow, eyeliner and mascara to make your eyes pop. Then rub on lipstick or lip stain and blush to finish off the look.

Daytime Makeup

Korean women who want to achieve a pretty daytime look will first apply a highlighting cream foundation to the centre of their face and blend it towards the outside of the face. If necessary, apply under-eye concealer. Use a yellow-based powder to set. For the eyes, start with ash brown eyebrow cream and taupe eye shadow on the base of the eyelid. Then apply chestnut eye shadow over the eyelid to make the eye look deeper-set. The chestnut shadow is applied to the lower lash line as well. Next, a thin line of black liner is drawn on the top lash line. Apply black mascara to curled top eyelashes and bottom lashes. Line lips with a neutral liner, adding a few extra strokes to the middle of the lips. For a sheer shine, mix clear lip gloss with beige gloss. Use a pale bronzer on your cheekbone and apply cream highlighter over the apples of your cheeks and your temples.

Nighttime Makeup

Korean women always start with an evenly coloured skin tone base before applying the rest of their make-up. Apply foundation, setting powder and brow cream, the same as when applying daytime make-up. Korean make-up styles for nighttime are relatively understated, adding a bit more glamour to the daytime look. Apply black eyeliner to both the upper and lower lash lines, smudging slightly to create a mysterious, smoky eye. Next, add another stroke of liner to the rims of your upper and lower lids - this defines the eyes even more, which is important to Korean women. Next, dab on shimmery, off-white liner in the corner of your eye and coat eyelashes with mascara to make your eyes pop. Korean woman opt for modest elegance, so keep lips neutral or swipe on a light peach gloss.

Skin Care

Make-up looks best on well-maintained skin -- take a hint from Korean women and massage the area around the eyes to wake up sallow, tired peepers. More important to Korean women than creating an attractive make-up look is keeping their skin healthy. Also, use outward, upward strokes when washing your face to keep your skin tight.
