Natural Beauty Tips for Teenagers

Many teenage girls develop an interest in beauty tips and products that will enhance their overall style. From hair to make-up to skin care, teens want to do what they can to keep up with looks that are trendy without having to break the bank with designer products. What many teens do not know, however, is that natural products and special beauty tips can give them the naturally beautiful look that they want.

Less is More

The old adage "less is more" is a good rule of thumb for teens who want a naturally beautiful look. Starting with make-up, avoid caking on the rainbow colours and masks of foundation. Cover-up should be used sparingly and only for troublesome blemishes, or to even out the texture of your skin. Teens keep their youthful look by wearing less make-up, and should stick with tinted lip glosses and some blush for a natural glow. When it comes to hair the same is true. A simple hairdo, whether that is down or in a ponytail, creates a naturally beautiful look.

Cold Cucumber Cures

Late nights, cramming sessions and keeping up with a social life can cause a teen's eyes to become puffy from lack of rest and relaxation. To remedy this, go to the fridge and slice a cucumber, and place one cucumber slice over each -- closed -- eyelid. Cucumbers are effective for rehydrating the skin and bringing down puffiness because they consist of 90 per cent water. The coldness of the cucumber is also a contributing factor for reducing puffy skin around the eyes. To keep the skin around your eyes in tip-top condition, sit with cucumber slices over your eyes for a few minutes each day.

Picture Perfect Face

Taking care of your skin as a teen is important for having good skin as an adult. During the teenage years, the skin undergoes changes due to the hormones produced by puberty. Oily skin is common, but can lead to breakouts and acne. To maintain a picture perfect face, try some beauty techniques at home to control the condition of your skin. Always wash your face before you put make-up on, and wash your face again at night. Sleeping with your make-up on can clog your pores and cause an oil build-up. Teens can give themselves homemade facials using oatmeal. Oatmeal is given to kids with chickenpox to help reduce redness, inflammation and itchy skin. Placing a cooked, cold oatmeal mask on the face is an effective way to keep the skin calm and naturally glowing.

Moisturise and Protect

To achieve a naturally beautiful look it is important for teens to moisturise and protect their hair and skin. Moisturising the skin keeps the skin's youthful elasticity and prevents the onset of wrinkles. Protecting the skin from damaging sun rays is another way to hold onto your naturally beautiful skin. You can kill two birds with one stone by purchasing moisturisers that have SPF in the ingredients, which keeps your skin protected against UV, ageing rays. Your hair is another part of your body that needs to be moisturised and protected. Many teens use styling products, such as curling irons and straightening irons, as well as highlight or dye their hair. Such treatments can damage the hair and dry it out, but using moisturising treatments and products that protect your hair is effective for giving you a natural and healthy shine.
