Kids love to try to persuade parents, family and friends on a variety of topics. Channel children's natural interests into persuasive speeches. Find topics of interest to help create a vibrant speech that develops the child's confidence and pride. With a little encouragement, kids will find ways to develop good persuasive speech topics.

The family home contains many persuasive topics for your child's speech. Sit with your child to help brainstorm a list, such as not having to clean his room or not having to pick up his toys. A kid also can take this opportunity to develop a speech about why his parents should let him have a dog or cat. During the brainstorming session, prepare for topics that might hit close to home, such as reasons parents shouldn't fight.

Kids have a lot of ideas about how to improve their schooling, whether they attend public, private or home schools. Listen as your child shares suggestions about making the educational process more fun or efficient. Does your child think that a four-day school week would be better than five days a week? Maybe your child has ideas about improving the cafeteria food or homeschooling snacks. Does the child have suggestions for a dress code or special dress-up days? Kids may also have suggestions about more serious matters. Does the child have ideas about stopping bullying or helping kids with learning problems?

Extra-curricular Activities

Kids like to participate in extra-curricular activities as a way to pursue their dreams. Help the child develop reasons for participating in these endeavours. Many kids look to sports, including baseball, football, soccer, basketball and track. Other kids want to pursue arts. Help your child think of reasons for taking classes in arts such as dance, drama, painting, pottery and music.

Persuasive Humanitarian Topics

Children can show caring and compassion for the world around them. Ask about ways to help, and listen as your child shares ideas for improving the world. Encourage your child to treat these ideas seriously to develop the best persuasive speech topics. Kids may think of ways to help sea animals, such as dolphins, porpoises and whales. Your child may have ideas about helping the local animal shelters take care of homeless dogs and cats. Or the humanitarian interests could extend to helping homeless kids in the community or the world. Other ideas include a speech on the greatest invention to help people.
