How to Remove Windows CardSpace in XP

The Windows CardSpace application provides users with a digital identification card to log into an online website. CardSpace improves user security when logging into sites that contain sensitive data, such as banking information. The CardSpace application is packaged with the Microsoft .NET 3.5 Framework. To remove CardSpace, you must uninstall .NET 3.5, which is an older version of the .NET software.

    Click the Windows "Start" button and select "Control Panel." Click "Add or Remove Programs" in the list of shortcuts.

    Click the "Microsoft .NET 3.5 Framework" icon in the list of installed programs. Click "Uninstall" to open an uninstall wizard.

    Click "Yes" to confirm you want to remove the framework. It takes several minutes to remove the program. After the process completes, reboot the XP computer.
