Many drink and food recipes call for ounce measurements. Cocktail recipes, for example, often list the amount of alcohol to add by using ounces. Guessing how much an ounce is will affect how the recipe turns out. For example, pouring too much liquid in a recipe can make it too watery. Fortunately, for cooks, they can measure the amount using a measuring cup once they know how to convert ounces into cups.

  1. 1

Locate the 1/4 cup mark on the liquid measuring cup. According to the "Better Homes and Garden Cookbook" measurement chart, 1/4 cup equals 56.7gr. Adjust the measurements to fit the amount of the ingredient you need. For example, if you need 28.4gr., use 1/8 cup instead of 1/4 cup.

  2. 2

Pour the liquid ingredient slowly into the cup until it reaches the 1/4 cup mark.

  3. 3

Pour the ingredients out of the cup and into the mixing bowl.
