How to Convert QFX to QIF

Updated April 17, 2017

Quicken Financial Exchange files (QFX) are standard Open Financial Exchange files (OFX) that support a licensing fee paid by institutions to Intuit. This text file is used by newer versions of Quicken and QuickBooks. To transfer and edit QFX files on versions of Quicken that utilise Quicken Interchange Format (QIF), download a QFX file converter. Many file converters can convert QFX to QIF format. Some of the most popular programs are QFX2QIF, QFX to QIF Text File converter, and QIF Master. The process to convert files is similar in most programs.

Download and install QFX converter software.

Open the QFX converter program and click "Add File." Navigate to the QFX file you want to convert and set the output format to "QIF."

Select the output location where the new file will be saved and click "Convert."

Tip

Always keep a copy of the original QFX file before you convert the file. You'll want to have a backup in case the conversion fails.
