An RDB file may be one of four types of file. An RDB file may be a random database file for the Darkbot talking IRC bot program. Darkbot is Unix- and Windows-compatible. When connected to an IRC chat, Darkbot "speaks" to respond to other users' messages. The RDB file contains "answers" to questions and topics, and the answers are displayed at random to IRC users. The N64 Nintendo emulator also uses the RDB file type as an index of ROM files that may be played on the emulator. RDB files may also be wavelet video files recorded by closed circuit security systems. Finally, the RDB file type is used for the Retrospect Backup software as a backup file set.
- Skill level:
Right-click the RDB file.
Click the "Open With" option from the context menu.
Select the compatible program that is installed on the computer. Programs that will open the RDB file are listed in the context menu. For example, if you have a Nintendo 64 emulator installed, select "Nintendo Emulator" to open the file. If you have Darkbot installed for IRC use, select the "Darkbot" program link. The RDB file opens in the correct program.
