How to convert an ipd file in outlook

The IPD file extension is produced by BlackBerry (Research in Motion) cell phones as a backup file when you sync your computer with your phone. These files can be created from anything you have stored on your phone, including contact lists, calendar appointments, SMS messages and memos. There are numerous free software packages that extract IPD files from your backup file and convert them to text files so you can view them in various applications. The only software that converts your BlackBerry e-mail IPDs to Microsoft Outlook is external to Outlook itself and comes at a cost. But, it works.

Skill level:

  1. 1

Download and install ABC Amber BlackBerry Converter.

  2. 2

Connect the small end of the USB cable that came with your phone to your BlackBerry. Plug the other end into your computer. Wait for the device to register.

  3. 3

When prompted, select the "PC storage" option on your phone.

  4. 4

Open the ABC Amber BlackBerry Converter software. Click on "File" and then "Open IPD."

  5. 5

Navigate to the file you wish to convert to Outlook. Click "Open."

  6. 6

Select "MS Outlook" under the heading "Export (destination)" at the bottom of the window.

  7. 7

Click on the "Save as" button above the "Export (destination)" heading. Choose a location for your file and click "Save."
