EMachines is a manufacturer of peripherals, displays and computers. The company focuses on providing more affordable devices to the consumer looking for economical computer choices. EMachines keyboards all share a similar style as far as general key placement and function key accessibility and activation. You can use and understand the keyboard even if you have never used an eMachines product before and lack previous experience with computer hardware.

Find the "Fn" key on the bottom left of the eMachines keyboard. This key is the "Function" key and allows a number of special commands when pressed in conjunction with other keys on the keyboard.
Find the row of keys at the top of the eMachines keyboard. These are the "Fx" keys, which provide functions when pressed in conjunction with the "Fn" keys. Press the "Fn" and "F4" keys simultaneously to put your computer to sleep.
Find the "F5" key, which will be directly to the right of the "F4" key. Press "Fn" and "F5"to toggle the display output to an external monitor or toggle the output back to your monitor if your display appears blank.
Mute your computer by using the "Fn" and "F8" keys on your eMachines keyboard. This will completely eliminate audio until you press the "Fn" and "F8" keys together again.
Find the arrow keys at the bottom right of your keyboard. There are four of these, with each representing a different direction. The directions are up, down, left and right. Use these keys to scroll around documents and Web pages without the use of a mouse. These keys are also used in conjunction with the "Fn" key for special functions.
Adjust the volume level on your computer with the up and down arrow keys. Press "Fn" and the "up arrow" to increase the sound volume. Press the "Fn" and the "down arrow" to decrease the sound volume.
Use the left and right arrows to adjust brightness on your computer's display. Press the "Fn" and the "right arrow" keys to increase the screen brightness and "Fn" and the "left arrow" to decrease the screen brightness.
Find the key with the Windows symbol on it. This is the Windows key and is located at the bottom left of the keyboard beside the "Fn" key. Press the Windows key on the eMachines keyboard to automatically access the "Start" menu in the Windows operating system.
