When you sign up for an account with YouTube, you provide an e-mail address. If you signed up using an e-mail address that you now no longer want to use, change it by updating you account information. For example, you are changing Internet service providers, or you simply have another e-mail address that you prefer to use. Google owns YouTube, so when you have a linked YouTube-Google account, you'll need to update the email address associated with your Google account.
- Skill level:
Go to the YouTube website (youtube.com) if you have a YouTube account that is not linked to a Google account.
Sign in to your account.
Click the drop-down menu labelled with your user name at the top of the page, and then click "Account."
Click "Email Options." Type your new e-mail address and your YouTube password, then type in the verification code to prove you are a human (a "Captcha" code that is difficult for automated programs to read), and then click "Send Confirmation." YouTube sends a confirmation message to your old e-mail address.
Read the email message that YouTube sent to your old account and click the verification link in the message to confirm that you want to change your e-mail address.
Go to the Google Accounts home page (google.com) if you have a linked YouTube-Google account.
Log in to your account.
Click the "Change Mail" link, which is located next to "Security."
Type your new e-mail address and your current Google password.
Click "Save." Google sends a verification message to your old e-mail address. Read the verification message sent to your old e-mail address, and click the verification link in the message to confirm the change.
