Pinstripe tape allows you to decorate your car, boat, or motorcycle without having to worry about painting a perfectly straight and even line. If you apply pinstripe tape correctly, it will withstanding precipitation and heat from the sun. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions, and practice applying the tape on another material to make sure you get the best results when you put the tape on your vehicle.

  1. 1

Clean the vehicle completely with soap and water. Scrub the vehicle with the soapy solution and a sponge. Work until the surface is completely clean, and rinse it with clear water. Let the vehicle air-dry completely.

  2. 2

Soak a clean cloth in tar remover. Scrub the vehicle with the tar remover.

  3. 3

Soak a clean cloth in rubbing alcohol. Rub the cloth over the vehicle to remove any remaining residue or dust.

  4. 4

Rinse the vehicle again with water and let it dry completely.

  5. 5

Fill a 709ml. spray bottle with clear water. Add 1 drop of liquid hand soap, and shake the bottle to combine. Don't use more hand soap unless directed by the manufacturer.

  6. 6

Spray the vehicle with the soap solution. The solution will help make sure the pinstripe tape doesn't stick faster than you have time to properly position it.

  7. 7

Peel off the adhesive side of the pinstripe tape, and press it over the solution onto the vehicle. Position the tape where you want it on the vehicle.

  8. 8

Press a squeegee over the pinstripe tape, and push it parallel to the pinstripe. This will work out most of the soapy water, so the pinstripe tape will adhere to the vehicle. Repeat this several times until no more soapy water comes from underneath the pinstripe tape.

  9. 9

Spray the top of the tape with the soapy water. This will loosen the layer of transfer tape on top of the pinstripe tape.

  10. 10

Grasp the transfer tape, and slowly peel it off the pinstripe at a 180-degree angle.

  11. 11

Press the squeegee over the pinstripe to smooth it out and remove any air bubbles.

  12. 12

Dry the surface with a clean cloth.
