How to Turn Off the Trackpad Button on a Mac

On a MacBook computer, you can enable a setting that makes a tap on the computer's trackpad register as a mouse button click. This feature, while helpful, can also become a hindrance if you begin to accidentally click on something while using the trackpad. If you want to disable this setting, you can do so through the computer's "System Preferences" window in a few simple steps.

    Click the "Apple" icon in the computer's menu bar and select the "System Preferences" option from the Apple menu.

    Click the "Trackpad" icon beneath the "Hardware" heading to view the trackpad settings.

    Remove the checkmark next to the "Clicking" setting to disable the trackpad's ability to register taps as button presses.
