Some text messages you've sent and received are better deleted and forgotten. The iPhone stores all the text messages in the Messages app until you delete them. Removing texts from your device prevents others from seeing the messages if they are looking at your device and frees up the space occupied by the messages. You can permanently delete text messages on your iPhone from inside the Messages app.
