Crystal phone cases give cell phones a new and custom look. Phone cases were first manufactured to prevent damage to the phone, which in some cases, can void the warranty. Many companies sell crystal phone cases to protect and personalise phones. However, the cases are being sold for between £19 and £65, depending on what type of crystals and other embellishments are being used. You can easily make your own crystal phone case without breaking the bank.

Instructions

  1. 1

Purchase a clear case that is designed to fit your phone. A clear one is best because you can use any colour of crystals. Sites like eBay sell phone cases at discount prices, sometimes just for a couple of dollars.

  2. 2

Shop for crystals at a craft store. Flat-back crystals found in the scrapbook section will work best for your phone case surface. Choose a cement or epoxy-based glue.

  3. 3

Scrub your phone case with soap and water or a mild detergent. Cleaning your phone case before applying the crystals will ensure the crystals will adhere correctly.

  4. 4

Clear a work area and set up your phone case, crystals, tweezers, toothpick and glue. You can use a pencil to sketch a design on your phone case if you chose two or more colours of crystals. Lay the crystals on the case before gluing to make sure you are happy with the layout.

  5. 5

Place the glue on the crystals with a toothpick using your dominant hand. The crystals should be held with the other hand using tweezers. Set the toothpick down and adhere the crystals to the phone case with your dominant hand.

  6. 6

Check for loose crystals once the glue is dried by brushing your hands over the phone case surface. Replace any loose crystals as necessary.

Tips and warnings

  • Small crystals fit the shape of the phone case better than large ones.
  • Let the glue on your phone case dry for at least 24 hours before using.
