An artful cake stand encircled with ribbon provides a decorative display space for a tasty dessert. Some types of cake stands come with holes around the edges specifically for threading ribbon through. You can also add this feature to a plain stand by attaching ribbon around the base. Add your own embellishments for a customised look.

Find out the colour of the cake and how it will be decorated. Use similar colours and shapes when decorating the ribbon that will go around the cake stand.
If the stand has holes for threading, thread the ribbon through the holes in the stand. Weave it in and out until it encircles the entire stand. Tie the ribbon in a bow or finish it off in your chosen method, cutting away any excess with scissors.
If the stand does not have holes, tie ribbon around the stem or edge of the cake stand. Have the ribbon in place before beginning the decorating process.
Use a hot glue gun to attach decorative items to the outside of the ribbon. Form a pattern around the edge with items such as sequins, buttons, small plastic forms in the shape of different food items or any other type of small crafting objects of your choice.
Allow 24 hours for the glue to dry on the ribbon before using the cake stand.
