If you're decorating your home for the holidays, you don't have to stop with the Christmas tree and a few ornaments. If you have columns inside or outside of your home, you can incorporate them into your Christmas decorating. Adding Christmas decorations to the columns can help you put the entire house in the holiday spirit. You can even employ some of the same items you're using to adorn the rest of the house.

Instructions

  1. 1

Wrap columns with garland, especially if you have outside columns flanking your entryway. If you have side-by-side columns, you can put a wreath in the centre, above the columns, and have the garland look as it if it's coming from the wreath. You can even hang some bells or ornaments on the garland.

  2. 2

Use thick, red ribbon to wrap around large white columns for a candy cane effect. Wrap the ribbon on columns near the Christmas tree or in a heavily decorated room.

  3. 3

Add strings of lights to columns. Since the wires can be unsightly, try to add the lights where you have garland or ribbons, which can hide the wires while still displaying the lights.

  4. 4

Place large Christmas bows on the columns for a simple decoration. Alternatively, you can wrap the column in one colour of ribbon and add a large bow in a complimentary colour, for example, red ribbon with a green bow.
