GPS devices by Garmin often feature a slot for a microSD memory card that can be used to update the preloaded maps and add additional maps purchased from Garmin. Maps of international roadways are available for world travellers, as well as trail and waterway maps for the United States and more detailed maps for major cities across the globe. Downloaded maps can be saved to your computer and then transferred to your GPS with the MapInstall software, available for free from Garmin's website.
