Accessing the BIOS, or basic input/output system, of your Sony Vaio gives you control over hardware components of your system. From the BIOS you can enable or disable devices, check system settings, change the way the system boots or even monitor temperatures and fan speeds. Since the BIOS runs from a special area of your motherboard, called the CMOS, you can access it even if your operating system or hard drive is damaged.
