How to Troubleshoot Error Code 13 for a Bosch Dishwasher

Updated November 21, 2016

The Bosch Company makes a wide variety of products for the home and business, including alarm systems, power tools, automotive parts and tools, electronic sensors and home appliances. Bosch dishwashers for the home are available with hidden controls, visible controls and drawer styles. When problems occur with a Bosch dishwasher, the dishwasher will frequently display an error code. Troubleshooting certain error codes, such as error code 13, which indicates a clogged drain pump or hose, takes just a few steps.

Disconnect the dishwasher from the power source. Place a towel under the front of the dishwasher to protect the floor.

Open the access port on the front of the dishwasher and locate the drain pump cleanout.

Turn the cleanout counterclockwise and clean away any debris. Use a shop vac to suction out any remaining water.

Return the cleanout to the dishwasher and tighten. Close the access port.

Reconnect the dishwasher. If the error code remains, contact an authorised service technician.
