How to Chip a Virgin Modem

Written by chanel adams | 13/05/2017

Virgin Mobile creates a line of mobile phones and other wireless accessories. The broadband modem gives you Internet access from anywhere. This is a desirable option if you have limited Internet access in your area, or if you constantly travel. You just plug the Virgin modem into your computer's USB port. Prior to using the modem, you need to chip it, or unlock it. This allows you to use the modem on the Virgin network.

Locate your USB modem's proof of contract and purchase receipt. You will need the information on the papers to unlock your modem.

Contact Virgin Mobile Customer Service at 877-877-8443. Ask the representative to assist you in unlocking your broadband modem.

Provide your account information. This includes your account number, full name, street address, telephone number and e-mail address. Provide your modem identification number, if applicable.

Pay any fees associated with unlocking your modem. You can ask the representative to add the fee to your next monthly bill.

Ask the representative to e-mail you a copy of the service. This is for your records and confirms that the unlocking took place.

You need to unlock the modem again if you use it with another service provider.
