The inlet water filter in your LG washer helps to clean out any impurities that might be in your home's water supply, such as sand and rust particles. These filters are small, bucket shaped mesh screens that sit in the inlet attachment for the water supply hoses at the back of the washer. They are made to be removed so that they can be rinsed and cleaned.

  1. 1

Turn off the power for the LG washer on the main panel. Unplug the washer from the electrical circuit.

  2. 2

Move the washer, if needed, so you can access the coupling where the water supply hoses are connected.

  3. 3

Turn off the water supply for the LG washer by turning the knobs on the water supply valves located behind the washer counterclockwise.

  4. 4

Unscrew the coupling by turning it counterclockwise. Use a pair of pliers, if needed. Hold a towel underneath the coupling to catch any water that may run out.

  5. 5

Pull the basket shaped inlet filter out of the inlet with your fingers. If the basket is stuck or wedged in tightly, use a pair of needlenose pliers to grip the handle and work it loose.

Tips and warnings

  • Clean the inlet by running it under the sink faucet or sprayer hose.
