The Cisco Unified IP Phones 7975G, 7965G, and 7962G support the Cisco Unified IP Phone Expansion Modules 7915 and 7916. A maximum of two expansion modules can be added to these phones. However, before you use either the Cisco Unified IP Phone Expansion Modules 7915 or 7916, you must load the expansion module with firmware release B016-1-0-3 before using the phone to support relevant 8.4(3) features on your expansion module. Therefore, in order to define the 7916 module, you must download the appropriate software.

    Go to the product download page at the Cisco website. You can find a direct link in Resources below.

    Click on the IP Telephony link.

    Select the following options, one at a time. Start with, "IP Phones" then select "Cisco Unified IP Phones 7900 Series" followed by "Cisco Unified IP Phone Expansion Module 7916" and finishing with "Skinny Client Control Protocol (SCCP) Software."

    Select the option 1.0(4) under the Latest Releases folder.

    To download the firmware for Cisco Unified IP Phone Expansion Module 7916, click one of the following hyperlinks, follow the prompts and accept the defaults: cmterm-7916-sccp.5-0-4.exe, or cmterm-7916-sccp.5-0-4.cop.sgn, or When the installation is complete, the 7916 expansion module is defined for the 7975G, 7965G, and 7962G Cisco Phones.
