Woollen peacoats keep you warm, look sophisticated and define your shape when they are worn properly. To maintain the coat's sleek, streamlined silhouette, tuck your scarf in beneath the jacket.

Purchase a fitted peacoat that hits below your hips. This length is the most figure flattering -- a shorter length adds pounds, while a longer coat hides your shape.
Find a scarf that contrasts with the colour of your peacoat. Try a brightly coloured or white scarf with a black peacoat. Contrasting colours prevent you from looking dreary or washed out.
Fold the scarf in half width wise so that the two short ends meet. Your scarf is now half as long as it was before you folded it. One end is "closed," or folded, and the other end -- the end where the two short ends meet -- is "open," or unfolded.
Hold the folded end on one side of your neck with your left hand. With your right hand, wrap the open end of the scarf around the back of your neck. The folded and unfolded ends should now be on opposite sides of your neck. You will notice that the folded end forms a loop.
Cross the unfolded end over the front of your neck to meet the folded end. Pull the unfolded end through the loop created by the folded end and pull it tight enough to guard against cold weather without constricting your breathing.
Button your peacoat all the way up, over your scarf.
