However, listing a single item is very different from listing multiple items. The system Amazon uses works differently based on the items sold as well as how much inventory of that item the seller has.

    Download a pre-built inventory template from You will find a link in the Resources section of this article should you need it. Templates include inventory, book, music and video loaders. You can also modify your price and quantity of existing listings by using the "Price & Quantity" template.

    Open your template with Microsoft Excel or another spreadsheet program. Depending on what template you're using, the columns specify different data categories. Make a note of what each column is for and start filling in the required information. Things such as item name, item number, used or new condition, quantity and pricing are just a few examples of what you may have to fill out in your template.

    Save the template as an Excel workbook first so you can come back and edit it later. Even if you don't have Excel, the template should be able to save in the required format as that's how Amazon programmed the file. Then, in order to place your items on, save the template again as a .txt file. A warning will pop up telling you that the selected file format (.txt) doesn't support workbooks with multiple worksheets. Click 'OK." You'll then see another warning that your file contains features not compatible with the selected text format. Click "Okay" again.

    Log into your seller's account on by clicking on the "Sell On" link at the very bottom of Amazon's main page. Use your e-mail address and password to log in and then click on the "Upload Multiple Items" link in your dashboard.

    Select your file type from the list. This will all depend on which spreadsheet you used. Find it and select it from the drop down menu.

    Check the box beside "Purge and Replace" to delete your entire inventory and to only list items in your new template. If you're adding onto an existing inventory, you can leave this box unchecked.

    Add an expedited shipping option to all of the items in your template if you'd like to offer that to your customers. Click on the check box to include expedited shipping or leave it unchecked if you'd rather offer only normal shipping options.

    Select the file you want to upload. Click on the "Browse" button and select the file from your computer. Be sure to upload the .txt file and not the Excel workbook. Remember, the workbook is for making edits. The .txt file will tell Amazon all it needs to know about your products and inventory.

    Click "Upload Now" once you've found your file. Once it's finished, you can check your storefront inventory to make sure the changes are correct. If something's missing, edit the file again and upload/change as needed.
