Learn to be your own barista with Mr. Coffee cappuccino machines, which allow users to make cappuccino at home in minutes. Cappuccino is an espresso beverage with equal parts espresso, steamed milk and foam. When you make your own cappuccino at home, you can select your own brand of espresso and milk, like soy, nonfat or organic. You can also personalise your cappuccino with flavourings like vanilla or mocha, and toppings like cinnamon or nutmeg.

  1. 1

Wash the carafe, lid, filter and brew basket that comes with the Mr. Coffee cappuccino maker before making your beverage. Fill the glass carafe to the designated marking with cold water, and pour the water into the water reservoir. Plug the machine in and turn it on, and place the carafe under the espresso machine's spout.

  2. 2

Place the filter in the brew basket and fill with coffee to the two- or four-cup mark. Gently tamp the coffee, then attach the brew basket to the brew head.

  3. 3

Turn the control knob to the "ON" position and press the brew button to begin the brew process. Espresso will flow into the glass carafe in three to five minutes. When the espresso is done brewing, turn the control knob to the off position.

  4. 4

Fill a small stainless steel container with cold milk.

  5. 5

Immerse the frothing tube in the container of milk, and slowly turn the control knob to the steam position. Move the milk in a circular motion while it steams until it is doubled in volume and its temperature reaches 65.6 degrees C. Turn the control knob to the "OFF" position when the milk is done steaming, and allow the machine to cool. Do not remove the brew basket until the machine has cooled and the pressure has been relieved.

  6. 6

Pour the steamed milk over your espresso to make a cappuccino. Mix in any flavourings you wish.

Tips and warnings

  • To avoid splattering your milk, do not let the frothing tube rise above the milk's surface.
  • Cappuccino machines can build up a lot of heat and pressure. Follow all manufacturer's safety instructions.
