How to Turn on 3G for Ipad

Updated April 17, 2017

Apple iPads are available in two distinct models, those with only Wi-Fi built-in, and those with both Wi-Fi and 3G capabilities. The Wi-Fi and 3G iPads require an add on data package available through certain cellular providers. The data package allows users to browse the Web, access e-mail and use other features through the 3G cellular data network, just like the Apple iPhone.

Press the "Home" button, then unlock the iPad screen.

Tap the "Settings" icon.

Tap the "Cellular Data" tab. A new page will load.

Slide the blue "Cellular Data" switch from the "Off" position to "On."

Look for the "3G" icon on the iPad's status bar to confirm the connection.
