When your HP M2727 printer is on and you're not using it, it sets itself into something called "Sleep Mode." This is a power saving mode designed to shut down most major processes of the printer until you need them again. Disabling the unit's sleep mode powers it completely back on, which will take less time than turning the printer off and then turning it back on again. When the printer wakes from sleep mode, it doesn't have to warm back up like it would if it had been off.
