Although you may still remember the conversion between gallons and litres, it will do you no good when driving in the United States because their gallon is different to the British gallon. Petrol prices in the US are measured in US gallons. If you are driving in the USA you will need to refule at a "gas station" where the delivery and price is measured in gallons.
