ClosetMaid wire shelving in your pantry can end up sticky from spilt jam or juice and little fingers reaching for treats. The plastic-coated, open-grid wire shelving is designed for easy cleaning. A cleaning routine that gets rid of the sticky build-up without damaging the shelves is easy to implement.

Things you need

  • Vacuum or small broom

  • Spray bottle

  • Dish soap

  • White vinegar

  • Cleaning rags

Remove loose dust with the hose attachment of a vacuum cleaner or brush the dust off the shelves with a small broom.

Mix 2 cups water, 1/2 tsp dish soap and 1 tsp white vinegar in a spray bottle.

Spray a mist of the cleaner onto the shelving and wipe off with a cleaning rag. Wipe down each wire, from the top and bottom.

Continue until all build-up is removed, let the shelving air dry and place your items back on the shelf. If the items themselves need cleaned, wipe down with the same cleaning spray. The vinegar is a versatile disinfectant and deodoriser while the dish soap assists in the cleaning process.
