Panasonic DVD players are built to only play DVDs from the region to which they are assigned. For example, a Region 1 Panasonic DVD player only plays Region 1 DVDs. This means that if you attempt to play a Region 2 DVD on a Region 1 player, it does not work. For some models of Panasonic DVD players, however, there are codes you can enter with the remote control to make the player region-free. This allows the player to play DVDs from any region.
