How to Disable Regions on a Panasonic DVD Player

Updated July 20, 2017

Panasonic DVD players are built to only play DVDs from the region to which they are assigned. For example, a Region 1 Panasonic DVD player only plays Region 1 DVDs. This means that if you attempt to play a Region 2 DVD on a Region 1 player, it does not work. For some models of Panasonic DVD players, however, there are codes you can enter with the remote control to make the player region-free. This allows the player to play DVDs from any region.

Open the player's disc tray and press "9," "8," "1" and "7" on the remote control. (See Reference 1.)

Press the "9" button to make the player region-free.

Press the "Return" button and close the player's disc tray.

Turn on the DVD player and press and hold "Shift" on the remote. (See Reference 1.)

Press the "Setup" button and release "Shift." Press the "Enter" button twice.

Select "Other." Type "0000" to make the player region-free.

Press "Enter." Press "Return" twice, then turn the player off.

Warning

These are the only models of Panasonic DVD players with known codes.
