When you turn on the car, you want your Sony CDX-GT540UI car radio to already be playing a station that you like. Presetting the stations so that you can flip through them as you like makes it easier to skip commercials. Plus, using station presets is safer than fiddling with knobs as you drive. Setting up the stations is simple when you know how to do it.

Instructions

  1. 1

Flip through stations while the car is stopped. Stop flipping when you find a station that you like.

  2. 2

Select the preset button, 1 through 6, that you would like that station to be. Hold down that numbered button until the display screen starts to flash next to the channel number. This means that the station is now in your car radio's memory.

  3. 3

Repeat Steps 1 and 2 until you have filled all of the numbered preset buttons on your Sony CDX-GT540UI car radio or until you decide that you have all of your favourite stations programmed.

Tips and warnings

  • Never set your radio stations while you are driving. This is a road hazard that can cause an accident.
