How to Troubleshoot an MX5500

The Cordless Desktop MX5500 Revolution is a cordless mouse and keyboard set manufactured by Logitech. The mouse is rechargeable and, because it is laser operated, is easy to control and responds quickly.     Keyboard and Mouse Connection Cutting Out

    Check whether or not there are other electrical devices less than eight inches away from the USB mini-receiver, which is the device that should be plugged into your computer that receives the signal from the mouse and keyboard. If there are electrical devices in the way, move them because this can cause signal interference.

    Disconnect the USB mini-receiver from the USB port and plug it into one of your computer's other USB ports.

    Ensure that you are not using the mouse and keyboard on a metal surface because this may affect the device's connection. If this is the case, try using the device on a different surface.

    Mouse Is Not Charging

    Ensure that the charging cradle's copper contacts -- located right behind where the mouse sits -- are clean and dust-free. If they appear to be dirty, use a damp, soft cloth to gently wipe them. Wait for the contacts to fully dry before placing the mouse in the charger.

    Ensure that the AC power adaptor is securely connected to the back of the charging cradle and that the other end is securely connected to a working power outlet. If either end appears to be loose, unplug it and reconnect it securely.

    Ensure that the mouse is sitting properly in the charging cradle. The contacts on the back of the mouse should be touching the contacts on the cradle. A blinking green light indicates that the mouse is sitting properly and is charging.

    Mouse Does Not Scroll Horizontally

    Ensure that the Logitech SetPoint Mouse and Keyboard Software is installed on your computer, because you need this to be able to program your mouse to scroll horizontally. Download the software from Logitech's "Downloads" page.

    Launch the Logitech SetPoint Mouse and Keyboard Software on your computer and click the "My Mouse" tab at the top of the window.

    Click the "Mouse" icon at the top of the left-hand side toolbar to display the Button Settings.

    Select "Left Scroll" in the "Select Button" selection box and "Left Scroll" in the "Select Task" list.
