How to Download Macromedia Flash 8
Adobe Flash can add a rich experience to your Web browsing. (Internet image by Stephanie Bandmann from

Adobe Flash, formerly known as Macromedia Flash, is a browser-based application that allows users to view online media such as videos and interactive content. Originally developed by Macromedia, Flash is now developed by Adobe after its acquisition of Macromedia in 2005. Adobe Flash 8 is an earlier version of the software, but is still available online along with the most current version of Flash. Updating your Flash software to the most recent version is highly recommended. Nevertheless, an earlier version of Flash may be necessary if you are having technical issues with the latest version.

Skill level:

  1. 1

Navigate to the Adobe website in your Internet browser (see Resources).

  2. 2

Click the Support link in the upper portion of Adobe's main page.

  3. 3

Click Adobe Flash Player on the main Adobe support page.

  4. 4

Click the Archived Flash Players link on the right portion of the page.

  5. 5

Scroll down the Archived Flash Player page and click the link for Flash Player 8 under the Archived Versions heading. After the download window appears, choose save the file to download Flash Player 8. Similarly, if you want to download Flash Player 10.1, the latest version of Flash, click the Flash Player 10.1 link to initiate your download.
