How to Stop an Acer Laptop From Shutting Down When the Lid is Closed

If your Acer laptop computer shuts down when you close its lid, this is because your computer is configured to do so. Your default selected "Power Plan" includes an auto-shut down once Windows senses that the lid of the computer has been closed. If you would like to prevent this from happening, adjust the settings of your "Power Plan" in the control panel.

    Click "Start."

    Click "Control Panel."

    Click "Power Options."

    Click the "Change What Closing the Lid Does" hyperlink on the left side of the screen.

    Click the "Closing the Lid" drop-down menu. Select either "Sleep," "Hibernate" or "Do Nothing." All three of these options will stop your Acer laptop from shutting down completely when you close the lid. Click "OK" to save changes.
