A heart symbolises love and care for someone and is used on many social media sites, such as Facebook and Twitter, and in text messages and Internet forums. Nearly all modern cell phone keypads can make the heart symbol, because there are only two characters needed.

    Open a text message, website or document you want to place the heart symbol in.

  2. 2

    Find the "<" key. It shares the same key as the period for QWERTY keypads, and you can typically access it by pressing the "Alt" button on your keypad. It is located in "Symbols" for other keypads.

  3. 3

    Enter "<3" into the body of your text, website post or document. The "<3" is the widely accepted heart symbol.

Tips and warnings

  • You can make an actual heart with the numeric keypad on a keyboard by pressing "Alt" and "3" at the same time.
