Make sure you are using a disc that will work in the Wii. The console accepts Wii and GameCube discs, but will not play CDs or DVDs, or game discs from other consoles.
Check the game disc for scratches or dirt. If the disc appears dirty, find a soft cloth and wipe it, from the inside to the outside. Do not use a circular motion when you wipe the disc, as this could cause scratching.
Eject the disc. Power the Wii console off and then turn it back on. Insert the disc again and see if it now works.
Check the region of your disc. At the bottom of the disc it should say that it is made to work with Wii consoles sold in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Latin America.
