How Do I Change the Start-Up TomTom XL?

Learn how to replace the start-up image in your TomTom to add any splash screen image you like. Global Positioning System (GPS) was developed by the U.S. government and it's now used worldwide. GPS can be used to accurately pinpoint a particular location in the world. GPS devices come in different makes and models, such as the TomTom XL. A TomTom GPS is a device mostly used for car navigation, giving you street directions to a particular address.

Turn on your TomTom GPS device. Connect the USB cable from your TomTom device to your computer.

Open "Windows Explorer" by pressing the Windows key and "E." Browse to "TomTom (:)" and click the drive.

Find the bitmap image called "splash" and rename it to "splash_old." Find a 320 x 240 bitmap image of your choice and copy it to "TomTom ( :)."

Rename your new bitmap image to "splash.bmp."

Restart your TomTom GPS device and you will see your new image.
